comedy genre is almost essential to all fiction and
entertainment formats. Alter sitcoms were taken away from
nearlyevery European TV and Latin American programming
schedule, comedy comes back today victorious and with a great
future ahead thanks to adaptations. It is being included in
telenovelas, series, movies, realities and other emerging
hybrids.

the rights with whoever is in charge of the series production and spread.
For that reason, Carsey-Werner keeps
the distribution rights of each adaptation to the benefit of the parties in the sale of it as a canned product. In that case, the
client takes part in distribution and shares the benefits of it ,”

Adaptation
of series all over the world
“Series costs and production time tend to minimize if production is
centralized. For that purpose, the management responsible for
production should have a wide knowledge of the various
idiosyncrasies and the expressions we can find in their local
markets. In the case of Latin America, where they use the same stage
or studio to develop versions that go to the different countries of
the region and which then travel to the US Hispanic market, adapting
this comedies is very appealing because of audience’s love of this
genre,” he states and adds that “we don’t attempt to create a
content ‘assembly line’, but take care over its quality and the
interpretation we want to communicate, so that the adaptation
reaches success in each market.” Finally, the format business has
just begin for Carsey-Werner. “This a new period for our series
and an opportunity for programmers and audiences.” |
