Taking a look at
the world
of telenovelas
In
Croatia The
First Telenovela
produced by an
independent group
he
shooting of the first telenovela in Croatia
has raised great expectations. Villa Maria
sees the light thanks to AVA, an independent
production group, with an international cast
and a story that bridges the gap for audiences
in Eastern European countries. This telenovela,
with over 200 episodes, each one of 45 minutes,
is being shot at studio 2 of Jadran film,
in Croatias capital and a beautiful
scenery in Opatija, on the Adriatic coast.
Some exteriors have not yet been shot in locations
such as the countrys main city, and
by August, the telenovela will be shot at
the studios. In Croatia, ONLY
TELENOVELAS talked to media rep
Andjelka Budic, who told us this story
is as interesting as Mexican telenovelas,
but it will surely attract a bigger audience,
since Eastern European locals will feel reflected
in the characters.

The participation of renowned
actors, such as Zarko Radic, Mia Begovic,
Ksenija Pajic, Barbara Vickovic, Cedo Martinic
and Sven Madzarevic, ensures the
quality of the program. Some other well known
actors in Croatias show biz will also
be included, as well as top singers Petar
Graso and Jelena Rozga. Doors are
still open to Latin American actors and everyone
is hoping to reach an agreement to incorporate
the Latin talents. At Villa Maria´s
set the whole crew, including Slovenian make-up
artists, costume and wig designers, art directors
and set designers are really excited about
the production and make clear the fact that
their salaries are very good; they say the
budget is allowing them to work harmoniously,
thus making it possible for them to deliver
a high-quality product.
Croatia, a medieval jewel, features a big
attraction, its Adriatic coast, home to numerous
islands and exotic beaches amidst a breathtaking
landscape of green mountains, hills, valleys,
woods,

plains, rivers and caverns.
With these productions, the Croatian people
hope to lure the public, not only with this
fantastic love story, but also with exotic
locations of the so called First Naturalist
European Garden and its marvelous Adriatic
coast. The growing economy, the influence
of foreign investment and the addition to
the European Community foretell the fact that
Croatia will become an important production
center for telenovelas and fiction stories
in Eastern European countries. And who knows,
the rest of the world.
